Victor Osimhen delivered a masterclass in finishing on Wednesday night, netting twice in the first half to lead Galatasaray to a commanding 3–1 victory over Bodø/Glimt in the UEFA Champions League.
The win marks the Turkish champions’ second consecutive group-stage triumph and lifts them to fourth in the standings with six points.
The Nigerian striker wasted no time igniting the Rams Park crowd, opening the scoring in the third minute with a composed finish from Mario Lemina’s incisive through-ball. Osimhen doubled the lead in the 33rd minute, capitalizing on a defensive blunder by Fredrik André Bjørkan to round goalkeeper Nikita Haikin and slot home his seventh consecutive European goal for the club—a new Galatasaray record, surpassing Burak Yılmaz’s 2012 streak.
Yunus Akgün added a third in the 60th minute, smashing in a rebound after Osimhen had stripped Haitam Aleesami on the edge of the box. Bodø/Glimt managed a late consolation through Andreas Helmersen’s 76th-minute header, but the damage was done.
Despite flashes of resistance—Jens Petter Hauge fired narrowly wide, and Sondre Brunstad Fet struck the post before halftime—the Norwegian side struggled to contain a Galatasaray team that dominated the tempo and outshot them 22–7. Haikin made several key saves, including two more from Osimhen, but couldn’t prevent the end of Bodø/Glimt’s five-match unbeaten European run.
Osimhen’s brace not only underlined Galatasaray’s resurgence following their opening 4–0 loss to Eintracht Frankfurt but also cemented his status as a talismanic figure. The 26-year-old, who joined permanently from Napoli in August after a prolific loan spell, has now scored in seven straight European fixtures, including goals against Tottenham, AZ Alkmaar, Dynamo Kyiv, Ajax, and Liverpool.
Manager Okan Buruk praised his side’s evolution, noting that Galatasaray had previously won just one of their last 18 main-draw European matches. With two wins from three games, the Istanbul giants are now firmly in contention for a knockout berth.
Bodø/Glimt coach Kjetil Knutsen lamented his side’s errors: “We gave them gifts—simple as that.”
As the Champions League group stage heats up, Galatasaray’s form—and Osimhen’s firepower—position them as potential dark horses in the tournament.
